Verse(s) of the Day:
"5 His anger lasts only a moment. His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last for the night, but there is a song of joy in the morning."
Psalm 30:5
I've always heard, and tried to follow, the notion that having emotions isn't the problem, but rather the response after the emotions occur.
Yes, you will probably feel the need to lash out if someone cuts you off in traffic, but is this anger going to matter after the moment is up?
Say, 5 minutes down the road, will this anger matter?
Probably not. But it does confirm a heart condition we have.
Will we lash out or pray for that person?
This is our Springboard of opportunity to offer a favor or blessing to someone who has essentially wronged us or at least upset us.
The same goes for the emotion that causes grief or weeping.
The Sun will shine in the morning, and the song of His joy will be sung.
But we have to understand our heart condition to realize that everything that seems to be negative in a vacuum is not.
Key Takeaway
→ Emotions are not bad, but our reaction to these emotions that reveal our true heart condition can be if we don't release these conditions to God.
I have begun using these "wrongs" in life as a Springboard for prayer and thanksgiving.
I propose that y'all try the same because it has been a blessing.
Don't look through the momentary vacuum of negativity, but rather at the broad array of blessings God has allowed us to bestow upon others through these moments.
